Adventures Around The World?!

Sunday, January 19, 2014

Ladies and Gentlemen! Welcome to Flight 909~  Let me take you on a journey~ All around the woooooorld! So welcome to lame adventure numero uno! You remember that "exciting" post I was talking about not too long ago. . .well my plans didn't go as well as I thought they would. All the 100 something photos (168 to be exact) I took of this so called event turned out to be a lot of hooey.

They are such poor koala-tea (I'm cute, I'm cute~ I know no need to tell me) that I'm just too simply embarrassed to post them up and neither will my perfectionist personality sink to those standards so let's take a moment and throw that idea out the window (Warning: I will not be paying any damage you cause to your precious windows~ Please consider this before resorting to violence towards your home décor). But fear not because there is a backup plan!

You didn't think mwah would leave you hanging did you? Of course not! Remember that cute intro back there? No, I didn't leave the country, unfortunately but I've got the next best thing. . .the grocery store!

Wait, wait before you dart your mouse cursor's tootie patootie to that red X over there let me enlighten you on a fact. It wasn't just any grocery store. . .it was a hidden shop tucked beneath trees and creepy abandoned warehouses (now that's a warm welcome if I don't say so myself! I'm being serious people nothing beats a little investigation work >:D I do not condone snooping around abandoned warehouses. . .not really. . .maybe a little?) that offered you different tastes and trinkets that you would find if you were at that particular country. A quick 80 days around the world anyone? Still not sold on staying yet? Well, my friend. . .no one ever said it was a good backup plan! But you know what you are going to join me on this grocery store aisle expedition if you like it or not .__. *grabs your hand and frolics away* Grocery store adventuuuures~

Meet Ben the Baker (very original, huh? *slowly claps*)! He will be our guide for the day. So as any good tourist you are probably wondering what brought me here in the first place. *clears throat* As a full time unicorn  student who is taking pre-med courses and being part of a family of six I rarely ever have the chance to wander out of my home so to you this may be a boring outing, but for me on the other hand it really was a treat. Even if it was a simple place that could have been easily overlooked I really wanted to take it all in. Maybe this might be completely irrelevant, but one of my New Year Resolutions is to learn how to completely embrace everything with open arms. To make everything into an adventure no matter how small or tiny it is. It's easy to forget that this is our life. . .to live day by day without really grasping onto anything. But this is it! This is our life! We're the one's who mold it into what it really is. I really want to learn how to treat everyday like it's my last and learn how to appreciate the little things in life. This isn't exactly what I wanted to say and I did end up rambling (oops!) but if you're sitting around fiddling with your thumbs and are looking for something to do. Just go out and explore! Go on a walk around your neighborhood, go to a bookstore, or maybe sit out by a lake, or maybe go to some random grocery store you found hanging around in town like yours truly. You never know what you may find or learn or who you might bump into. I know I'm starting to sound cheesy to some of you, but go out on an adventure! You might even find yourself out there. It's easy to merely exist, but to truly live is what many of us forget to do. Heh heh, well that lovely speech was brought to you by Benny boy here. Who'd know you had all of that in you, Ben? Well enough of that! Benny my boy stop standing there and let's get on with this tour~

If you don't know me then here's a little fact for you. . .I have a MAJOR sweet tooth
So naturally I was attracted to the small bakery they had set up in the center of the store. They had an assortment of mini middle eastern sweet consisting of baklava (a sweet that is made with layers of  a sweetened filo paper/dough filled with pistachios or walnuts. If you haven't ever tried this before you should go try some nowwww >;)), borma (a thick crunchy dough that is filled with chopped nuts), lady fingers, and a few others that I really wasn't familiar with (sadly they didn't have all of them labeled :( )

While strolling around the store I stumbled upon these strange little knick knacks. If you aren't familiar with these little talisman its called an "evil eye". It's found in the middle eastern culture to all types of different Mediterranean regions. It's believed to cause injury or misfortune to someone who directs any envy or dislike towards you. Many people wear it as a charm, necklace, or bracelet to ward off any evil presences or aurora around them. Not one of the friendliest talisman out there. . .but I found it quite interesting! I personally think learning about these small stories about different cultures is what gives a culture real character.

Maybe you remember your mother, father, or pet telling you not to take things without permission. Well I forgot to follow that piece of advice thinking this open cookie tray was displayed as a sample. I was disappointed to find out that these were stale and  poor excuses for cookies as I bit into these odd tasting circles. Which now that I think about it most likely wasn't a sample. . .Bad cookie. . .Bad!

Running around with my hyperactive sisters they couldn't help but notice the buffet that they set up in the back of the store. The first thing that caught my eye was this scrumptious Greek salad~ No salad dressing needed ;)

Soo you thought I could walk away with making a complete healthy lunch choice? Wrong :( I couldn't resist the gyros (flat bread served with lamb with a yogurt based sauce)! But the salad makes up for it, right? Right?! They were gyros people! Gyros!

Well this is our last stop, my little grocery store adventurers. *sniffles* They grow up so fast! Above obviously as you can see is candy. But not any ordinary candy. . .but candy with a little twist. Not only did they have the originals, but they had coconut, hazelnut, mango, and even orange?! I've never heard of these flavors before so it was really cool to see all the different kinds. If you don't live in America do you have some of these candies in your country? Well I think I'll stop before this blog here turns into a food blog. I hope you enjoyed this post because if you were wondering. . .yes I got plenty of weird stares while I snapped away in this little grocery store. . .haha but it was worth it :)

Oh, oh before we left town we saw these street performers playing drums on these empty buckets! It was pretty amazing~ Well I'll let you go now, lovely. Now off you go on your own little adventure! Byeeeee~

Sincerely,

Kidnapped By My Immune System?!

Friday, January 10, 2014

For the past ten days  I've been rolling around in my bed (occasionally the floor) feeling like absolute rubbish. Being sick is nothing new for me and my weak and indecisive immune system and I by far are no strangers. We are quite well acquainted actually. We share a cup of tea from time to time. Maybe a few chick flicks here and there. You know the  usual (or should I say the youzhe (yoo-u-g)? That's what you young folk say, right?). As my body came in contact with the unfamiliar organisms that mistook me as their cozy and loving home I was left with no choice! I plunged right into the horrifying battle field (I'll have you know that my immune system is quite the lazy one) and wielded my sword (oh, the array of painkillers). I slaughtered my enemies, the most feared creatures today, people don't even dare whisper their name, the bravest men and women tremble at the mere thought of them. . .*murmurs dramatically* GERMS! My perpetrators lifeless bodies litter our great land (the crumbled up Kleenex tissues that decorate my bedroom ground this very moment) as I stumble my way across this exhausting journey to deliver YOU the most important of messages. . .

I'M BAAAAAAACK~

Heh heh well maybeee not the most important of messages. . .but you've got to appreciate the dramatic build up, eh? No? Fine, fine suit yourself. As you read these silly scribbles written here and as I dragged myself around the house this past week and a half I found myself thinking about this blog in one way or another. I found myself googling for countless hours of themes and backgrounds to make it more aesthetically pleasing (which as you can see I failed )
to scribbling down ideas of what I could possibly write about next. Even though maybe no one on the face of the planet reads this except myself (Well I'd like to think that at least one poor sap  martians reads my blog) I honestly enjoy "creating" something that I can call my own. Even if one person in the whole world was reading this I would be so very happy so it upsets me if I can't post as much as I'd like. So what I think I'm trying to say is that I'm going to try my best to keep up with this shin dig and if you are reading this you've made a kitty explode with happiness. . .well that came out a lot more violent than intended. . .

Anyways! I didn't come completely empty handed~ I think quite soon (hopefully) I'll have something exciting to post about. So please do stick around if you can (well not literally because I don't think I have enough PAM spray in my fridge to get you out of that particular situation). Until then I bid you a good night full of sweet dreams~

Note: Tissues were harmed during this production :(

Sincerely,

Didn't Wanna Leave You Hanging. . .

Wednesday, January 1, 2014

Hello, hello yet again  I terribly wanted to share my Christmas haul with you, but I'm still quite sick (plus I didn't want anyone to think I'm bragging or anything of the sort) so I suppose we'll snuggle that idea right back into the book shelf for later viewing~

But I didn't want to leave you completely empty handed! No, no, no what type of person would I be if I did that? So I bring you. . .wait for it. . .wait for it. . .

a game review (didn't I warn you that this blog would be all over the place? Fashion princess one day, queen of the nerds the next)!

What game you ask? Well that's easy! "Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask" of course (as seen above )

Before I begin raving and rambling away about how much I adore this game I suppose I should start off by telling you a little about it so you aren't completely lost (Get with the program, people *snap snap* haha;)). So let's begin~

Source: Google

The game Miracle Mask takes place in a beautiful and mystic town called Monte d'Or also known as the "City of Miracles" where we follow a man named Professor Layton who is an archeologist, his young apprentice Luke, and his lovely assistant Emmy. The three seem to be engulfed in the large town that breathes everything to life with its buzzing night life and endless whirring entertainment of crowded streets and parades lit up by bright neon lights. But our trio is not here to take part of the enticing rituals the town takes part of, but are here because of some frightening ordeals that are occurring on Monte d' Or's streets. A series of "dark miracles" begin to plague the streets and shake this lively carnival town apart. Paintings come to life as if God breathed life into them. People turned into stone their petrified faces unmoving as their loved ones cry over their lifeless bodies. Who is responsible for this treachery? The Masked Gentleman like no other is taking this boisterous town in his own two hands while the terrified towns people wait for his next magic "trick" to strike again. Follow our gentlemen Hershel Layton as he tries to unravel this mystery with his love for puzzles and as he comes face to face with his past to solve what gentleman lurks behind the mask. . .

Quite dramatic for a "kids" game, eh? Let me just say this game is such a refresher compared to all the other Nintendo games out there or well just about any game in general. It's like having a perfect chilled drink of water because there's just this "pure" feeling hanging around this game while it tries to wrap you around in its mysterious tale. If the plot of the game doesn't make you stay, I think the graphics will. They are honestly beautiful and quite impressed me because I wasn't expecting them to be so. . .good (because of the fact its being played on a hand held system. The Nintendo 3DS strikes again)! The cut scenes are just like watching a mini anime series! How cute! I will say though if you don't like using your brain  mind teasers or puzzles I'm not too sure if you would "love" this game. They aren't completely impossible or "rip your hair out" frustrating so please don't let that scare you away. They just require some thinking is all and with *whispers* "school" only around the corner maybe that wouldn't be such a bad idea.

Anyways, if you were thinking of buying this game I would definitely recommend you give it a go and if you don't have a Nintendo 3DS I would recommend buying it solely because this game was just so lovely~

Lalala~ *claps my hands together in a mannerly fashion* Well that's the end of that! Is my nerd showing? On a completely unrelated note my door somehow miraculously pantsed me today D: You know when your doorknob gets hooked on to the elastics of your pants and you begin to walk and. . .whoops there goes your pants kind of thing. Just me? You keep lying to yourself! We'll see how far that takes you. When you decide to join us we'll kindly listen to your doorknob "violation" sob stories because that's just the type of person I am! Doorknobs these days. . .I think I should head to bed now before I regret any other absurdities that might escape me. . .Goodnight my lovelies~

Sincerely,

A Black Christmas Eve???

Tuesday, December 31, 2013

Are those the sound of crickets I hear? Chirp~ Chirp~ Or is that just me? Just me? Maybe I should clean out my ears? Or maybe. . .maybe I'm not being loud enough? CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW FELLOW BLOG SAILERS? . . .ANYONE CARE FOR DONUTS? *clears throat* Haha well enough of that. Before I completely get off topic I just wanted to apologize for my absence. . .I'm beginning to feel under the weather, but don't you worry I'll be back on my own two feet in no time (Extra Vitamin C, anyone?)!  I just didn't want anyone to think I
abandoned this blog so quickly. . .I'm here to stay if you like it or not~ Being a pain in your butt now am I? Well that's what buddies are for

Now back to the post~ I know this seems late for "Christmas theme" related posts, but I really wanted to do a few and the time seems to just have slipped between my unrealizing fingers. I hope you don't mind!

Christmas Eve! It's a day where many of us are looking forward to spend quality time with our family and friends. A time "we" sip on too much eggnog(I surprisingly have never had eggnog before! Is it any good???) and wait for our beloved Santa to land on our roofs (Shhh! He's real, okay!). But it's also an evening where we take advantage to bust out our Christmas swag (Did I just say swag? Haha kill me now~) fashion wise of course.

I always see a lot of reds, sequins, and sparkles galore (don't forget the "ugly" Christmas sweaters!) this time of year, but I honestly wanted to do something different this year.
Annnd I came up with this. . .

I know this might seem a bit too "dark" for some people, but I honestly feel this is such a universal look that can be used for any occasion. Maybe this might just give you a little bit of inspiration for New Years Eve if you're feeling a bit daring this year~

Did I mention how much I LOVE this dress <3 <3 <3
It just has so many endless possibilities. You can dress it down for a casual day out in town or glam it up a bit as I did here with some gold accessories and BAM~ Goddess of the dark anyone? If you're struggling to shop for your little black dress or just looking to add one to your collection this is the one for you! It just flows so nicely and the feel of it is just so lovely.

Combat boots and I were a match made in heaven~

  What is worn here:
Xhilaration Faux Leather Fit and Flare Dress: Target
Tights: The Depths of My Closet (a.k.a. Narnia)
Princess Vera Wang Combat Boots: Kohl's
Gold Arm Cuff: Windsor
Gold Leaf Headband: Forever 21

I hope you enjoyed today's post and that you have a lovely New Years Eve
Be safe!

Feel free to post any ideas you have for next post! I'm thinking of doing a "Christmas Haul", but I'm not too sure yet. Until then I bid you an adieu and a safe night~

Oh yeah! One more thing before I forget! I'll fix the theme/background as soon as I can (as soon as I figure out how)! I know it can be such an eyesore >__<

Sincerely,

NEVERFORGOTTEN

Welcome!

Tuesday, December 24, 2013

Hey, you! Yeah, you. . .come over here. I got something to tell you. Can you be any slower? Oh, watch out! Don't trip over the cyber cookies or the adorable fluffy kittens that wander this virtual land. There you are! Don't be shy, now! Have a seat, have a seat. My name is Esmerelda. I come from a land that your people have never heard of, a land that you can not even begin to fathom. But enough about me. We've got more important matters to attend to. Oh, will you stop fidgeting already! I'm not that intimidating am I? Ah, that's better. Now look at me, dead right in the eyes. . .stranger to stranger. . .what I have to tell you might change your life forever. For better or worst. . .who knows? But it is a choice you have to make. I have a mission for you. . .if you choose to take it you may stay and read your further instructions, but if you choose to decline this mission or have any hesitance clouding your mind. . .leave now. To the right you will locate a red X. . .that will be your departure. I would love to be able to say "Until we meet again, old stranger", but this is where our paths part. Read no further, because once your eyes lay on this fine print your mission has begun unfortunately and I grieve for what is before you now, for what your future holds, because by any means this is no easy task, but I pray for your great success, brave one. Your instructions are below. . .

. . .TOP SECRET. . .

I kid, I kid! I pinky promise I'm nice and I won't be sending you toward your inevitable death anytime soon. But I thank you for sticking around this long. You're quite the dare devil aren't you? Doing a stranger's bidding without a moment's thought. Hasn't your mother ever told you to never talk to strangers! Sheesh, people these days ignoring their poor mother's sweet ol' advice (Just playing! ;)) My name is Sylvia :)  (Should I have just revealed my name to people I've never met before *shifty eyes* You better not hunt me down! I have a level 52 Snorlax   that knows rock smash. You hear me and it won't be too pretty! haha)

Welcome to my blog~I've always wanted to start one and our fall semester just ended not too long ago so here I am! I really haven't decided what the theme of this blog will be, because there is so much I want to share with all of you. Oh, silly me before I go any further on my rambling rampage let me tell you a little about myself~

This is me. . .

Yeah, I'm a cat. . .Have a problem?

I'll scratch you

Just pulling your chain! This is actually me haha

Or maybe more accurately portrayed here. . .

I am currently 1500  19 years old(Do I look it??? Psst the right answer is no) pursuing a masters degree as a physician assistant, an aspiring model/actress, a wannabe writer (horror genre at that. What genre is better, baby? ;)), and a unicorn who dreams to rule travel the world one day and hopefully touch the heart of others as she ventures. I suppose you can call me a dream chaser

But, as you can clearly see I'm all over the place like an overly ambitious five year old who can't decide if she wants to become a pokemon trainer or a mermaid (Who could???). So God knows what theme this blog will follow, but I hope you stick along with me and join the adventure~

I say you, but I really don't know who "you" are. Do I? So enough about me(God knows we've heard enough of my loopyness for one night)! Comment below and tell me about yourself :) How else am I going to learn about your lovely self?! Come on, come on don't be shy! Well until then I hope you are enjoying your holiday and having a Merry little Christmas
Heeey how'd that get there?! Hey, behave yourself kitty that's no way to treat our new guests (Psst did I mention I have a major bit of a cat obsession?)

Fixed it! Merry Christmas~

Sincerely,
